James Scurr

Founder and Managing Director

James founded CFI Finance in February 2014, building on his experience creating a successful franchise finance division for a publicly listed financier.

It’s James’ experience as a franchisee however that helps to ensure CFI Finance meets its customers needs better than any other equipment finance company in Australia. Spending almost a decade as a successful multi-unit franchisee for companies including Boost Juice, Dreamy Donuts and other independently owned businesses, James has extensive franchising and small business experience, and has an acute understanding of franchise finance requirements.

Phil Chaplin

Chief Executive Officer

Phil has over 20 years’ experience in banking and finance across Australia and New Zealand. Phil’s expertise covers all aspects of commercial lending, as well as M&A work within the financial services sector.

A former chair of the Equipment Finance Council for the Australian Finance Industry Association, Phil has helped to build and manage finance companies for private equity investors, banks and ASX listed companies.

Dan Toms

National Sales Manager and Director

Dan heads the Sales and Marketing teams for CFI Finance, implementing strategic plans to ensure continued growth of the business and innovation in the company’s services and offering.

With extensive experience in the finance sector, Dan has worked with many of Australia’s top franchise systems, assisting both franchisees and franchisors with their funding requirements. He has previously managed divisions for other publically listed finance companies as well as national supply chain companies.

Toni-Anne Jones

General Manager - Contract Operations

Toni-Anne manages CFI Finance’s Operations, drawing on her 15 years of experience in the Finance Industry to strive to provide innovative and efficient solutions to our customer’s needs.

As a winner of the prestigious Women in Leadership Australia scholarship in 2019, Toni-Anne uses her experience working for both large, global organisations and smaller, local businesses to be able to implement larger-scale streamlining whilst maintaining the flexibility that a small business requires.
